Gorgeous, extra sparkly and colorful squared oval cut "Get noticed" vermeil cocktail ring from the 80's we think !
At first glance, you notice that the pale purple CZ sparkles - then, you see how the lavender; purple; pink; (even some blues, greens and yellows... depending upon the light source and the colors that you are wearing) colors dance and play.
The stone reminds me of the vintage 1940's and 50's aurora borealis jewelry.
This looks almost like a pale amethyst or a "Rose De France" amethyst stone, but I believe it is a CZ designed to be a look-alike.
I am pricing it only as a CZ - if it is anything more than that - I am happy for you.
Marked on the inside of the band with "UTC 925"
UTC is the care instructions:
U = do not use an ultrasound machine to clean the ring.
T = Avoid sudden changes in temperature
C = do not expose the ring to chemicals, including perfumes or hairsprays.
The 925 is the standard for sterling silver. It means that the metal is 92.5% silver and no more than 7.5% other metal. This is the standard for silver both in the US and the EU (Europe).
I have no information as to the gold content other then it is plated in some sort of gold as there are no other markings.
It is a size 5
The gold plating is very slightly worn and there are some scratches to the top of the stone from use which is to be expected of vintage jewelry.
The stone is about 5/8 inch (16mm) long and 1/2 inch (12mm) wide - the ring band is about 1/4" at the top narrowing down to about 1/8" wide at the bottom.
*Please check to make sure the stone and setting are very secure and then have the pieces of vintage jewelry gently cleaned by a jeweler or collector who understands vintage jewelry.
*All items are "as is" and there are no returns so please read the descriptions and see the photos before you buy.
