This Coro rhinestone, figural, jeweled, bug - scarab or ladybug -brooch from sometime between 1919 and the early 1940s still has the original fiber (cotton I think) inside to which the wearer could apply a drop of perfume and then the fiber would release the scent slowly.
It was made to be tiny, so that it could be worn high up on the collar where the wearer could take a quick sniff of it if a sudden objectionable smell came about.
The tiny bug sure has sparkle and character !
It measures about 7/8" x 3/4" and has one ruby red eye, one bright red eye, also sapphire blue, and deep blue Chaton cut stones along with tiny clear stones in a goldtone and silvertone metal body.
Pinback is a safety C mechanism.
I see an average amount of normal wear from use as is expected of vintage jewelry.
The price reflects this.
Signed "Coro" in script with "Pat Pend" on the back.
*Please check to make sure the rhinestones and clasp... are very secure and then have the pieces of vintage jewelry gently cleaned by a jeweler or collector who understands vintage rhinestone jewelry.
The old glue used to hold the rhinestones may someday give way so always have a tray handy to put underneath when you check it before you wear this pin or clean it.
*All items are "as is" and there are no returns so please read the descriptions and see the photos before you buy.
