Vintage mustard seed brooch. Circa 1940's or 1950's or possibly even earlier.
If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed... nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17.20.
A wonderful old Victorian belief held that the mustard seed symbolized faith.
For this reason, the small golden seed was encased in glass and worn as a reminder.
This trend was revived in the 1940's and 50's using Lucite instead of glass in most cases.
This sweet little pin with a pretty, goldtone ribbon holding the orb of mustard seed measures approximately 1 3/4 inches by 1 5/8 inches and has a safety C clasp.
There is some wear which is normal for vintage jewelry.
This is reflected in the price.
I see no maker's marks, numbers, or brand name...
