1942 design by Nicholas Barbieri (has patent number 133919 stamped on the back) in a coral/salmon color celluloid (or other early plastic) vintage pin brooch.
Vincent Sorrentino registered the trademark (In 1966, he added the "Sorrento" line as well) in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1911 for his jewelry line. The company changed to Uncas around 1922.
This horse and carriage brooch was designed by Nicholas Barbieri {who worked for Uncas at the time} and was produced by the Uncas Manufacturing Company of Rhode Island in 1942.
*Uncas later used a U with an arrow through it as their maker's mark.
A patent was issued for his horse and carriage design as shown in one of the photos.
This brooch is very nice and detailed - showing the horse trotting along pulling the carriage and just a hint of the driver in the carriage as shown by the whip.
This brooch is about 3 1/8 long and 1 1/2" wide.
I see minor wear to the brooch which is normal for a used, vintage piece of jewelry.
Still so pretty and not that noticeable.
*Whenever you wish to clean these, or any vintage jewelry, please check to make sure the pinback... is very secure and then have the pieces of vintage jewelry gently cleaned by a jeweler or collector who understands vintage jewelry.
*All items are "as is" and there are no returns so please read the descriptions and see the photos before you buy.
