Vintage Astra clip earrings and a matching bracelet.
Astra is a Trademark used by Joseph Wiesner for only two years in the mid 1950's.
In the book, -Collecting Costume Jewelry 101- page 293, Julia Carroll writes a little something about designer Joseph Wiesner's jewelry "Wiesner jewelry reflects high end design and quality materials...Wiesner jewelry is scarce and can sometimes sell for above average prices. Collectors recognize that the jewelry was originally well crafted with high quality materials."
Earrings are about 1 inch long and 3/4" wide with pretty, amber or butterscotch rhinestones.
There are 4 columns of 7 amber rhinestones that are about 1/8" and 1 column of 4 amber rhinestones that about 1/4" across in the center of each earring.
All of the rhinestones are prong set.
Each earring back is stamped with the maker's mark of "Astra".
The bracelet has 4 rows of 28 amber or butterscotch rhinestones that are about 3/16" across plus two more on the clasp for a total of 114 rhinestones - all are prong set !
The super sparkly, elegant, flexible bracelet is a size 6 3/4"
I do not see a maker's mark on the bracelet, but this is not uncommon. Many makers only mark certain pieces and not all in the set.
This came to us as a set and we were told they were bought as a set by the original owner's daughter.
I see a tiny scratch here and there from being worn and a few worn spots on the metal, but I barely noticed them until I put these under a jewelry loupe and bright lights.
We lowered this set to 160 because of these slight condition issues.
*Please check to make sure the rhinestones and prongs are very secure and then have the pieces of vintage jewelry gently cleaned by a jeweler or collector who understands vintage rhinestone jewelry.
*All items are "as is" and there are no returns so please read the descriptions and see the photos before you buy.
